FallCon Recap

Mon Oct 12, 2009, 5:15 PM
FallCon was this weekend and what a great Con it was! This Con is what a comic book Con should be. It was all about the comic books and that's it. No need for wrestlers, "actors" ultimate fighters or any of their kind to spice it up and turn the convention into something it is not. The other great thing about this Con was the treatment of the creators. Food, drink, and courteous help were all in abundance and I would definitely recommend this convention to anyone who can make it next year. I had a really good time there and wanted to thank everyone who stopped by the table and got sketches or just stopped by to take a look at the art.

F'd in the A

Mon Sep 14, 2009, 12:31 PM
Well, as the title of my journal would state, I have been royally screwed over and feel that it is necessary to share this information with the DA community to hopefully avoid anyone else having to screwed over like I did.

It has been almost a year now since I have completed the full issue of Grimm Fairy Tales #33 for Zenescope Entertainment and I haven't received a dime for any of the work I did. Back in late winter, I was really hurting for jobs and trying to just stay afloat with my rent bills and car payments. I figured it was about time to escalate my hassling of Zenescope and let them know how much I needed the money I was owed. It seemed that they were sympathetic to my cause but because they had spread themselves to thin, they would not be able to pay the full amount. They were going to pay in installments. Well at this point I was pretty pissed off. I didn't take out a loan! After I mellowed out, I realized that any amount of money I could get from them would help out, but that wasn't going to happen either.

So my agent went to work, emailing and calling Zenescope trying to get, not only my money, but many other artists he represented as well. Zenescope felt he was too aggressive and proposed that an attorney become involved in the whole ordeal and make it a legal matter. This is where I am stuck at now.

Having talked to other artists I know and a couple others I have met at cons, this occurrence with Zenescope not paying people isn't just happening to us, it is kind of across the board. This is my warning to anyone who is thinking of getting involved with Zenescope in the future. Unless you are an EBAS or J. Scott Campbell, you may have problems getting the money that you deserve for the work you did. So spread the word if you know anyone or you yourself are going to be working for them.

The New Panel88

Mon Aug 17, 2009, 6:40 PM
The new Panel88 website is up and fully operational. Collaborating writer for Dissension, Chris Fielder, has revamped the website and included some pics and videos for your viewing pleasure. You can find everything at [link]

Other projects at Panel88 include LEASH, Soulless and AWOL so feel free to check those out as well. As Dissension moves from concept to completion, look for new pages and character designs up on the site as well.

The video is also available on YouTube.

Wizard World Chicago 2009

Fri Jul 17, 2009, 11:49 AM
The time of year is upon us again. I will be setting up in artist alley at the 3600-3604 table with Kristin :icontrashydevil: and others.

I finally decided to price out my old sequential pages and will have a large selection of those for sale. Included in the bunch will be the interior pages from Grimm Fairy Tales #23 and #33 as well as pages from the Warhammer 40k book, Defenders of Ultramar. Some pin-ups and other random stuff are in there as well.

I still haven't decided how many I am going to make, but I am printing the Dissension Sisters Cover prints for sale. Depending on time, I might throw another one in there.

I am bringing a bunch of sketches (i have posted some of them up on here) for sale. I will be taking sketch requests at the con as well. If you have a special request or want a more detailed drawing to pick up at the con you can PM me and I will try to squeeze it in before I head to the con.

See you all there!

Wolverine

Sat May 16, 2009, 7:25 PM
I just saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine and I am not sure how I felt about it. There were things that I liked and things that bothered me (mainly the Deadpool part). I just really wish that they wouldn't dramatically change the story from the comics to adapt it to a movie. In the end I will still end up buying the DVD because I am a fan, but I still think that they could have done a better job on parts of it.
